Dear Colleagues,

Welcome to the 10th International Conference on Research in Science Education, organized by the journal Enseñanza de las Ciencias. The University of Sevilla (in coordination with the University of Almeria) is proud to host the Conference, and we are looking forward to welcoming you in Sevilla (Spain).

The theme of the conference, “Research in Science Education. Past achievements and future challenges”, underlines the main contributions in Science Education research to enhancing our knowledge of science teaching and learning processes, from its formal establishment as an autonomous field of knowledge (just over 30 years ago), and analyze the most important challenges to be addressed at the present time.

Therefore, we proposed to organize the content of the conference around three major aspects of great relevance in contemporary science education research, which will be the conducting wire:

1. How to reduce the gap between research and teaching practice?

2. What science education is relevant in the current scientific context?

3. What science education is relevant in the contemporary world? It contains two parts: With two major sections: What science education is relevant in a technological world?, and  What is relevant in an unsustainable degrowth world?

Single Oral Presentations, roundtables and symposia will be organized around these themes so that the Conference can present to all the teaching and research community as well as the whole society, both its analysis and its proposals regarding the challenges..

We also hope the conference will be an enjoyable experience for all participants. Sevilla is a beautiful South European city, and the capital of the autonomous community of Andalusia. It is trendy and rich in culture, characterized by the flavours of the "tapas", one of the main cultural attractions of the city. Sevilla also has ample offerings for visitors who look for new experiences.
